In late autumn and winter, it is better to give preference to local seasonal vegetables, because they enrich the diet with essential nutrients, the Izvestia newspaper writes, citing doctors.
We are talking about carrots, beets and cabbage, which have a lot of fiber, as well as onions and garlic. Speaking of the latter two, garlic has been shown to have the most benefits – it helps in lowering blood pressure, lowering cholesterol levels, and lowering blood glucose levels.
As for off-season vegetables (tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers), you should not think that they are not useful when grown in greenhouse conditions.
“Maybe they are not as tasty as garden ones, but they are very useful for the digestive tract. They contain vitamins, fiber and antioxidants. In addition, they are low in calories, so they will help with weight control in winter, ”the publication says.
