For Russia, alcoholism is a serious problem. People in Rus’ drank, they drink, but, there is hope, they will not drink soon.
“It is necessary to fight alcoholism not with prohibitions, but with proposals for personal development in an interesting business. People need to have something to do. I’m sure it’s not a ban, but the opportunity to engage in self-development, an interesting thing, to develop your hobbies – this is extremely important, it will definitely help completely, ”I’m sure Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to the head of state, Russia adheres to generally accepted practice in this regard: “This is the world practice and the practice of our country in recent years, where we have good results in the country as a whole.”
One of the important tasks that the national project “Demography” solves is the reduction of alcohol consumption.
Any dose is poison
In particular, this is being implemented through the activities of the federal project “Strengthening Public Health”. And there are already encouraging results. Alcohol consumptionin world decreased by almost 43% between 2008 and 2021. If in 2008 the rate of alcohol consumption was 15.7 liters per capita per year, then in 2021 it will be 9 liters. Morbidity and mortality rates associated with alcohol consumption have also declined. The VTsIOM survey conducted in June 2022 showed that attitudes towards alcohol consumption in the country are changing. Thus, 62% of survey participants noted that they do not drink, have stopped drinking or have become less likely to drink alcohol. In December 2020, there were only 48% of them.
Doctors remind that there is no safe dose of alcohol. Alcohol is a total poison. It affects all organs and systems. In particular, strong alcoholic drinks in large doses negatively affect the cardiovascular system (and those suffering from arterial hypertension should take into account that many drugs for this disease are not combined with alcohol). In addition to the heart, cells of the brain and liver, where alcohol is processed, are extremely vulnerable to alcohol. High doses of alcohol for a long time can lead to severe liver damage – cirrhosis or alcoholic hepatitis. In addition, alcohol increases appetite: the more you drink, the higher the risk of overeating, which is also harmful to the body. Therefore, if you want to stay healthy longer, it is worth keeping alcohol to a minimum or not drinking at all.
