Hands are always in sight, and if any changes occur to them, it is always noticeable immediately. At the same time, it is not always clear what exactly the body wants to say. Why bruises, swelling, numbness and moles can appear on the hands, told rheumatologist of the Clinical Diagnostic Center “Medincenter” (branch of GlavUpDK under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia) Alla Proskurenko.
Swollen and swollen
Sometimes you can notice that the hands are slightly swollen, edema has appeared. The reasons for this, the specialist notes, are many – most often it is all associated with the accumulation of fluid. Such a state, says Alla Proskurenko, is caused by:
- too long stay in one position;
- eating salty foods;
- Taking certain medications, such as birth control pills, antidepressants, and steroids
Other causes of swollen hands include sprained or dislocated hands, insect bites, skin allergies, kidney, liver or heart problems, lymphedema, or psoriatic arthritis.
So, you should not ignore such a situation – you should seek help from a rheumatologist as soon as the first symptoms of the disease appear. This will allow you to accurately diagnose the cause of the disease and prevent its complication.
Hands are numb
The feeling of tingling and numbness in the hands is not pleasant. And you should not ignore these manifestations, as they are signs of neurological problems, says rheumatologist Proskurenko. So, when such signals from the body appear, you should consult a neurologist.
“The problem may arise due to compression of the peripheral nerves at the level of the cervical spine, ulnar canal, radiocarpal canal. The disease can lead to a violation of motor functions and a deterioration in the quality of life, if the cause of its occurrence is not eliminated in time, ”Alla Proskurenko clarifies.
The appearance of a bruise on the hands can be single, for example, due to a minor injury when a person hit. Or it can be a regular problem when bruises appear on their own and not one at a time.
“Such an ailment in most cases is associated with the “weakness” of the vascular wall or a violation of blood coagulation. These problems can occur with various diseases, including blood diseases, taking hormonal drugs (for example, prednisolone, methylprednisolone, dexamethasone or ointments containing the above medicinal substances) and aspirin, ”notes rheumatologist Proskurenko.
When bruises appear, which are distinguished by enviable constancy, it is worth contacting a general practitioner, undergoing a series of examinations and finding out the cause with the help of a specialist. Then the doctor will be able to prescribe an effective treatment and bruises will no longer bother.
Too big moles
Normally, everyone has moles – normally there can be several dozen of them all over the body. But here the question is whether they accumulate in one place and become too large in size. Alla Proskurenko notes that many large moles on the hands are not the best sign.
“In the case of the formation of large moles (nevi) on the hands, you should urgently seek help from a dermatologist. A qualified physician will determine the diagnosis and, based on this, prescribe effective therapy or recommendations. In some cases, the dermatologist may ask you to submit biopsy material for analysis in order to study the problem in more detail, ”the specialist warns.
Do not ignore the signals on your hands and try to endure or wait out – it is better to deal with the problem as early as possible in order to deal with it faster and more efficiently. Indeed, with the progression of serious diseases, it is possible to significantly worsen the quality of your life, when it will be impossible to move your hand, and many organs will begin to work intermittently.
