Usually obvious factors are blamed for tooth decay – poor hygiene, chocolate and candy, sugary sodas. In this case, sometimes pests are completely invisible to the eye microorganisms. They cause the destruction of the tooth itself, and also affect the state of the body as a whole. What are these infections, told orthopedic dentist, head of the dental department of the clinic Vyacheslav Korkach.

Pest microbes

“Most dental diseases are due to the activity of bacteria. As soon as there is a slight damage to the enamel (which may not even be visible to the eye), they attack the tooth and actively multiply in the damaged area. And a person gradually develops caries, pulpitis, periodontitis, periostitis (inflammation of the periosteum). The problem is that harmful microorganisms do not stop on the gums and teeth, ”the dentist emphasizes.

Microbes, in particular, strepto-staphylococci, enter the bloodstream, and with the bloodstream they spread throughout the body, affecting various organs and systems, says Vyacheslav Korkach. “Few people think of linking allergic reactions, inflammation of the sinuses, hair loss, visual impairment with untreated caries. And they are often connected! In severe cases, dental diseases are completely capable of provoking the development of rheumatism, heart and kidney failure, ”the specialist warns.

A feature of dental infections is also that they proceed for a long time and are asymptomatic, gradually reducing overall immunity. And the result is frequent colds, poor performance, lethargy and weakness.

“Sometimes inflammation develops in the event of an unsuccessful previous canal filling, causing a lot of inconvenience, and to completely get rid of discomfort, it’s enough just to change the fillings to more modern and high-quality ones,” says the doctor.

What to do?

It should be understood that streptococci and staphylococci are normally present in the human oral cavity. The question is their concentration – as soon as it rises for various reasons, for example, against the background of a decrease in immunity, then problems begin.

Bacteria are easily detected – just take a smear from the oral cavity. Antibiotics are not always used to suppress the activity of pathogens. Special modern preparations can be used that destroy the membranes of bacteria and do not lead to resistance (resistance). Mouth rinses are actively used.

To prevent the growth of pathogenic microflora, it is recommended to carefully monitor food products – do not use unverified ones. It is also extremely important to sanitize the oral cavity in time.

Vyacheslav Korkach recommends regular visits to the dentist, who will use modern diagnostic methods (for example, computed tomography), as well as conduct high-quality and timely dental treatment. Then the enamel will not form defects that bacteria can fill.

“It is especially important to sanitize the oral cavity if you are planning a pregnancy or preparing for surgery. But even if nothing bothers you, it’s better to come for preventive examinations every six months and do a professional cleaning of your teeth with the removal of tartar,” the dentist warns.

And this recommendation should not be ignored, since a bacterium not treated in time can lead to serious failures not only in the condition of the teeth, but also in the whole organism as a whole.
